MOLCONE® S is a silicone-based (organosilicon) compound, also known as Simethicone. It is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry as an excipient and antifoaming (processing) agent. It is used in oral pharmaceutical formulations as an anti-foaming agent to relieve symptoms associated with excess gas such as bloating, pressure and discomfort.

Application: MOLCONE® S (Simethicone) is used in pharmaceutical applications as an anti-flatulent agent in oral formulations. It also functions as an antifoaming excipient and processing aid by reducing surface tension, thereby promoting the coalescence and elimination of gas bubbles.

1 Description It occurs as a viscous, translucent, gray colored liquid.

3 Solubility The liquid phase is soluble in chloroform, ether and benzene, but silicon dioxide remains as a residue in these solvents. Insoluble in water and alcohol.
4 Content of Silicon Dioxide Between 4.0% and 7.0%.
5 Loss on heating Not more than 18.0%
6 Defoaming activity The defoaming activity time does not exceed 15 seconds.
7 Assay Not less than 90.5% and not more than 99.0%

PACKAGING

MOLCONE® S is packed in HDPE drums or IBC packing having bar-coded label.

SHELF LIFE, STORAGE AND PACKING

The shelf life is 3 years. Preserve in tight containers.
